Visits and Events: Reflections and Photos

Four members shared not only reflections on their contacts with Bhutan but some of their photo images – keeping memories alive and reminding us of changes and developments over the years.

Charlotte MacCaw first visited Bhutan, as a child, in the 1960s on a family expedition at the invitation of K3 – grateful for the medical advice from her father, Dr Aubrey Leatham. Charlotte has returned on several occasions since.

Deborah Keith worked in Bhutan for much of the 1980s when she set up a horticultural development programme – and learned Dzongkha along the way. Deborah is a founder member of the Society and has maintained close contacts with Bhutan over the years.

Matthew Heasman is a keen plantsman with particular interest in rhododendrons. He has visited Bhutan in pursuit of that passion and was there for the coronation of K5.

Andrew Sutton offered memories from the treks which were his introduction to Bhutan.

A video of the event will be published soon and made available to members
